For self-aligning bearings, the middle mounting ring can prevent the outer ring from tilting and rotating when the bearing with shaft is installed into the box shaft hole. It should be remembered that the balls of some sizes of self-aligning ball bearings protrude from the side of the bearing, so the middle mounting ring should be concave to prevent damage to the balls. A large number of bearings are generally installed by mechanical or hydraulic pressing method.
For separable bearings, the inner ring and outer ring can be installed separately, which simplifies the installation process, especially when both inner and outer rings need interference fit. When installing the shaft with the inner ring in place into the bearing housing with the outer ring, it is necessary to check whether the inner and outer rings are correctly aligned to avoid scratching the bearing raceway and rolling parts. If cylindrical and needle roller bearings adopt inner ring without flange or inner ring with flange on one side, it is recommended to use mounting sleeve. The outer diameter of the sleeve should be equal to the inner ring raceway diameter F, and the tolerance standard of machining should be D10. It is better to use mandrel to install needle roller bearing with stamping outer ring.
For the installation of self-aligning roller bearing, the axial clearance can be adjusted by adjusting the nut on the journal, adjusting the gasket and the thread in the bearing seat hole, or by preloading the spring. The size of the axial clearance is related to the arrangement of the bearings, the distance between the bearings and the material of the shaft and the bearing seat, which can be determined according to the working conditions. For the self-aligning roller bearing with high load and high speed, when adjusting the clearance, the influence of temperature rise on the axial clearance must be considered, and the clearance reduction caused by temperature rise should be estimated, that is to say, the axial clearance should be adjusted appropriately. For the bearing with low speed and bearing vibration, it should be installed without clearance or with preload. Its purpose is to make the roller and raceway of self-aligning roller bearing have good contact, load is evenly distributed, and prevent the roller and raceway from being damaged by vibration and impact. After adjustment, check the axial clearance with a dial indicator. The method is to first fix the dial indicator on the body or bearing seat, make the contact of the dial indicator against the smooth surface of the shaft, push the shaft along the axial direction, and the maximum swing of the needle is the axial clearance value.
